Minutemen Dismiss Phalanx, 4-2
|
The Boston Minutemen picked up a win at Fenway Park, knocking off the Philadelphia Phalanx, 4-2. Starting pitcher Hunter Brown played a key role in the triumph. Brown yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-1. Jose Leclerc, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities.
Alex Call had a big run-scoring double for the Minutemen in the bottom of the third inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from 36-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Cobb and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Minutemen ahead, 2-0.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Brown.
Boston raised its record to 78-69 with the win.
