Sluggers Lose to Phalanx, 4-2
|
Philadelphia pitcher Jake Eder had a large part in his team subduing the St Louis Sluggers, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Eder, now 5-11, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Philadelphia has now won 3 in a row.
The Phalanx got a big at-bat from center fielder Greg Allen. For the game, Allen was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Philadelphia a 3-1 lead.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Allen said after the game.
