Sharks Beat St Louis, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the New York Sharks and the St Louis Sluggers, Mitch Keller was the X factor. The New York right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Michael Kopech picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Yimi Garcia suffered the loss. Blake Treinen picked up the save for New York, his 9th of the year.
Matt Wallner came through with a big-time hit for New York. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Mitch was outstanding," said New York manager Nick Ruport.
The Sharks improved their record to 19-23 by beating St Louis.
