Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Firebirds
|
The Phoenix Firebirds spoiled a good performance by Portland third baseman Alex Bregman, bumping off Portland, 7-5, at Chase Field. Bregman went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Phoenix reliever Aaron Bummer got the win, raising his record to 4-1. Trevor Gott was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Firebirds upped their record to 25-19.
Phoenix took a 7-5 lead on Victor Caratini's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Caratini hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Portland pitcher Trevor Gott visibly frustrated.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Caratini.
