Boston Downed, 8-7, by Stars
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
The Cincinnati Stars beat the Boston Minutemen, 8-7, at Great American Ball Park. The Stars got a fine performance from catcher Francisco Alvarez, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The Stars sport a record of 18-26.
Cincinnati took the lead, 8-6, on Garrett Mitchell's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Boston pitcher Tim Mayza in the bottom of the eighth.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Cincinnati manager Pat Padula.
