Spirit Popped by Minutemen, 7-3
|
Boston third baseman Kris Bryant helped his team beat the Los Angeles Spirit, 7-3. Bryant, who finished 2nd in the FL in doubles with 35 in 2018, went 2 for 5 for the Minutemen. With the victory, the Minutemen upped their record to 80-72.
Jeremy Pena had a big run-scoring double for the Minutemen in the bottom of the third inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a changeup from 27-year old left-handed pitcher Lachlan Wells and swatted a double to right. It was his 38th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Minutemen ahead, 2-0.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Pena told the Boston Times. "And padding the Boston win column."
