Stars Use Late Rally to Win
|
The Cincinnati Stars locked up a win at Fan's Ballyard, knocking off the Oakland Roses, 10-3. On the mound for Cincinnati was right-hander Daulton Jefferies. He played a major role in the triumph. Jefferies, now 5-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Roses, at 73-85, have lost 4 in a row.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Andres Gimenez to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stars on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Daulton is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Cincinnati manager Pat Padula.
