Phalanx Drop Bandits, 7-5
|
Tampa Bay designated hitter Lars Nootbaar had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-5, to Philadelphia at Tony Gwynn Memorial Field. Nootbaar went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Kevin Ginkel notched his 24th save in 30 chances. At 71-90, the Phalanx claim third place in the Federal Eastern Division.
Romy Gonzalez had a big 2-run double for the Phalanx in the top of the third inning. With Philadelphia leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Cade Cavalli and swatted a double to left. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Phalanx ahead, 4-0.
"We ground out the win," said Gonzalez. "That's all that matters."
