Sting Thwart Vipers, 3-2
|
Seattle and Texas duked it out and the Sting came out victorious.
The Seattle Sting picked up a win at Boeing Field, taking down the Texas Vipers, 3-2. Starting pitcher Graham Ashcraft was a big reason why. Ashcraft picked up the win for Seattle, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-3.
Byron Buxton had a big solo home run for the Sting in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Seattle leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Colin Rea and punished it. The result was his 35th home run of the season, which put the Sting on top, 3-0.
"Graham was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Seattle manager Jesus Cardiel.
The Union League Western Division-leading Sting have a record of 108-54.
