Led by Wilyer Abreu, the Carolina Riptides defeated the Anaheim Diamonds, 9-2. Abreu belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Riptides. Tarik Skubal, who is tied for 2nd in the UL in strikeouts with 74, was the winner. He's now 7-2. The loser was Ben Lively. Carolina goes to 28-18. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.

Early in the game, third baseman Ryan McMahon had a grand slam home run for Carolina. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Riptides on top, 4-0.
