Hitmen Pull Out Late Win, 8-7
|
The Washington Hitmen did just enough to nip the Pittsburgh Ironmen, 8-7, in 13 innings. Washington shortstop Brice Turang, in particular, had a standout performance. Washington reliever Hans Crouse picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Michael Fulmer was saddled with the loss. After today's action, Washington sits at 21-25; Pittsburgh slips to 25-21.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Noelvi Marte came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Pittsburgh pitcher Michael Fulmer, he hit a 2-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Washington on top, 8-7.
"Very good win for our guys," said Marte.
