Carolina Beaten, 5-3, by Anaheim
|
Carolina third baseman Kody Clemens was sensational. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Anaheim beat the Riptides, 5-3. The save went to David Bednar, his 4th this season. With the win over Carolina, the Diamonds improved to 18-29.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jake Mangum? The 29-year old left fielder Mangum stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put Anaheim up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
Anaheim manager Michael Kirk commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
