Wildcats Fall Short, 3-2, at Phoenix
|
The Phoenix Firebirds faced a tough opponent in Baltimore pitcher Gerrit Cole, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Chase Field by a final score of 3-2. Cole went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Today's win puts Phoenix at 28-19, while Baltimore falls to 21-26.
Had Dansby Swanson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Swanson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Firebirds.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Phoenix manager Pat McGoldrick.
