5-Game Suspensions for Sosa-Payamps Fight Friday, August 22nd , 2025 It was quite a row yesterday at Chase Field. The Firebirds Edmundo Sosa and the Riptides Joel Payamps backed up their angry words with a few shoves and a few swings. Then both dugouts raced onto the field and got involved in the fracas. When it was over, only Sosa and Payamps were ejected. As expected they were informed by the league office that they would each have to serve 5-game suspensions for their inappropriate actions. This year, Sosa has hit at a .245 pace and produced 18 RBIs, 5 home runs and scored 25 runs. During this season, he has made 33 relief appearances, earning a 2-2 record with no saves. In 31.1 innings Payamps has struck out 30 with a 4.02 ERA. |
