He was injured yesterday against the Diamonds while throwing a pitch. The standout 23-year-old starting pitcher has a strained oblique and didn't rule out playing, but did say that if pain persisted, he would not risk further injury. "Roki will play if he can," said the team doctor. "He hasn't got a major injury, but at the same time, we need to monitor the situation and protect him as much as possible." Up to now Sasaki has recorded a record of 7-10. In 29 starts he has fanned 218 batters in 173 innings with a 2.97 ERA. |
