Devers Is King of Swing: Goes Deep 3 Times Thursday, April 24th , 2025 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Rafael Devers swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Boeing Field, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Seattle Sting were better. The Toronto Hogs couldn't capitalize on the big game from Devers and dropped the contest, 14-5. The mood in the Hogs clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Sting to spoil the day for Devers. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Toronto manager Anthony Cepparulo said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Devers collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Toronto third baseman told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Rafael Devers hit a two-run home run off Jose Quintana in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jose Quintana in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jose Quintana in the 6th and singled in the 8th. In this current campaign Devers is hitting at a .292 clip with 3 home runs and 12 RBIs. |
