League Gives Santana Suspension
Sunday, April 26th , 2026
The suspension of first baseman Carlos Santana did not sit well with the Denver Bears. Both Santana and his manager were livid at what both say is an unjustified 2-game suspension issued today by league officials. Santana was suspended for "inappropriate conduct" during a game against the San Francisco Dragons yesterday at Coors Field.
Santana was ejected from the game for arguing a strike call. "It's not right," he said, adding, "I didn't do anything to deserve this. Eject me, but don't suspend me."
His manager also vented his displeasure. "Arguments go on all the time, face-to-face, and there's not a suspension. To be suspended is ridiculous. That's bull."
Santana did more than just argue the call, he threw his bat at the feet of the umpire and walked off the field. That is the main reason the league suspended him.
For the season, Santana is hitting .161, batted in 4 runs with no home runs and 8 runs scored.
