Year Over for Riptides Lopez Thursday, July 9th , 2026 The doctors have spoken and Otto Lopez of the Carolina Riptides didn't like what he heard. The 27-year-old second baseman is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Lopez sustained his season-ending injury during the St Louis Sluggers game yesterday at IBM Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while running the bases. Today the Carolina medical staff reported Lopez had a ruptured achilles tendon and would be absent from the lineup for at least 5-6 months. To date Lopez has chalked up a .228 average with 5 home runs, driven in 22 runs and scored 21 times. |
