A jubilant Sterlin Thompson joined the postgame press conference at Beacons Ballpark to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Plattsburgh Beacons pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Madison Millers third baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 4-2 Millers win.

"He made it look easy," said , manager of the Beacons. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Sterlin Thompson singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

A look at his current stats shows Thompson with a .357 average, 7 home runs, 45 RBIs and 41 runs scored. He has played in 61 games.
