Morris Goes on Rampage Against Castors
|
Even as a kid, Tanner Morris said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Quebec, Morris showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 26-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Trenton Thunder, helping his team knock off the Quebec Castors by a score of 17-8.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Tanner Morris hit a two-run triple in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, grounded out in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
This year, Morris has collected a .368 batting average to date with 89 hits in 242 at-bats, 42 RBIs, 7 home runs and scored 42 times. He has played in 64 games.
