Firebirds Pin 7-2 Loss on Carolina
|
Phoenix pitcher Spencer Turnbull did his part in helping his team beat the Carolina Riptides, 7-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winning pitcher was Turnbull, now 3-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 8. With the win, Phoenix upped its record to 31-21.
Phoenix used the hitting of Fernando Tatis Jr. to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Firebirds on top, 2-0. For the game, Tatis Jr. had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I still think this team can play even better," Tatis Jr. told the Phoenix Chronicle.
