Conticello on Fire, 5-for-5 Against Champagne
Albany right fielder Gavin Conticello went down swinging at Black Bears Ballpark, knocking out 5 hits even as his Ambassadors fell, 11-10.

"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Conticello said after his 5-for-5 performance against the Champagne Black Bears. "No offense meant to Champagne, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well."

After the game, his manager elaborated on the right fielder's improvements, saying Conticello spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.

"That's what I'm trying to do," Conticello agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."

Gavin Conticello hit a solo-shot off Corey Abbott in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Michael Kelly in the 7th and hit a three-run triple in the 9th.

In his 2026 season totals, Conticello has 11 home runs, .285 BA, .365 OBP, 75 RBIs and 76 runs scored.
