Titans Tack 7-2 Loss on Chicago
|
Houston took on Chicago in front of a lively crowd.
The Houston Titans beat the Chicago Explorers, 7-2, at Baron's Ballyard. The Titans got a fine performance from right fielder Starling Marte, who went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs. Triston McKenzie, the winner, is now 6-8. He struck out 4 and walked 0 over 5.2 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits.
Jordan Westburg had a big 2-run home run for the Titans in the top of the sixth inning. With Houston leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 28-year old left-handed pitcher Kyle Nelson and punished it. The result was his 20th home run of the season, which put the Titans on top, 4-1.
Marte attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
With the win, Houston upped its record to 64-61.
