Schmitt Tags Hillcats for 5 Hits
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Casey Schmitt, it came around today.

The 26-year-old shortstop scattered hits all over Bats Ballpark to pace the 12-10 Binghamton Bats victory over the Hartford Hillcats.

Hartford skipper told reporters in the press room that "Schmitt deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Schmitt hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Casey Schmitt singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Hayden Birdsong in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Hayden Birdsong in the 5th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 8th, walked in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off Matt Festa in the 12th.

This season, Schmitt has hit at a .357 clip and produced 15 RBI, 5 home runs and 22 runs.
