Phoenix Defeated by San Diego, 4-1

Despite the rain, the fans at Petco Park enjoyed a good ballgame.
The San Diego Snakeyes overcame a pretty good performance by Phoenix shortstop Matt McLain, beating the Firebirds, 4-1, at Petco Park. McLain went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. San Diego reliever Drew Thorpe picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Reid Detmers was saddled with the loss.
The Snakeyes got a big at-bat from second baseman Oswaldo Cabrera. For the game, Cabrera was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave San Diego a 2-1 lead.
Cabrera called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
The victory makes San Diego 1-2.
