Thomas Batters Plant City for 5 Hits
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Colby Thomas -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Gainesville Grounds and paced the 28-1 Gators win over the Plant City Farmers.

After his dynamite batting performance, the Gainesville center fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."

His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Colby Thomas singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and walked in a run in the 6th.

This year, Thomas has hit at a .353 clip with 108 hits, 12 home runs, 58 RBIs and 78 runs scored.
