Firebirds Send Texas Home with 6-1 Loss
|
The Phoenix Firebirds beat the Texas Vipers, 6-1. Phoenix pitcher and Venezuela, native Ranger Suarez led the way. The winner was Suarez. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was Kris Bubic. The loss drops Texas to 4-12.
Phoenix relied on the hitting of Drew Millas to pick up the win. The catcher ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the second inning to put the Firebirds on top, 3-0. For the game, Millas had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Phoenix manager Pat McGoldrick called it "a darn good win."
