Tavarez Socks It to Greenjackets, Cracks 5 Hits
|
Ambioris Tavarez really did a number on the Augusta Greenjackets -- and the Greenjackets did one right back on Tavarez's team, the Columbia Colonels, taking the Field of the Colonels contest, 7-5.
Tavarez delivered a huge 5-for-7 performance for Columbia, but did not deliver the victory.
"I felt real good in the batter's box," the 21-year-old shortstop said after putting up a game for the ages. "I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done."
Ambioris Tavarez grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 7th, flied out in the 8th, was hit by a pitch in the 10th, singled in the 13th, singled in the 15th and doubled in the 17th.
This year, Tavarez has hit at a .281 clip with 32 RBIs, 8 home runs and 32 runs scored.
