Pensacola Wins Top Spot in South Atlantic League Eastern Division

The sports pubs and streets of Pensacola are filled with rejoicing Privateers fans tonight, as the team has officially captured the South Atlantic League Eastern Division.
That sense of pride is extending right on through to the players, who took time to celebrate the 3rd division title in team history.
"There's a great sense of pride to put on the
Pensacola Privateers jersey and to have a chance to bring a championship to our city," said starting pitcher Santiago Suarez. "It's not something our team takes for granted or takes lightly."

Gators End Mongelli Streak

The Lake Placid Gators pitching staff did its job, holding hot-hitting Sam Mongelli hitless in 4 at-bats during the club's 7-3 victory over the Delmarva White Wings at Gators Ballpark. The disappointing performance ended a 22-game hitting streak for the second baseman.
"I'm a little down right now," Mongelli said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too."
Looking at his stats this year, Mongelli has compiled a .284 batting average, while hitting 7 home runs and driving in 48 runs. He has played in 85 games and scored 51 runs.

Jarvis 5-for-5 for Bluegrass

No matter what the Augusta Greenjackets threw at him, Jim Jarvis hit it. He easily handled Greenjackets pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Bluegrass triumph, 11-9, at Augusta Grounds.
"The way I was swinging, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.
Told of Jarvis's quip, Greenjackets skipper said he "would take him up on that next time."
Jim Jarvis hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This year, Jarvis has socked 34 hits in 103 at-bats for a .330 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .393 pace and his totals also include 12 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
