Sacco Jr. 5-for-5 Against Colonels
Saturday, July 5th , 2025
Tommy Sacco Jr. was on quite a roll as he knocked the ball all over Field of the Colonels, collecting 5 hits. His day of glory wasn't able to win the game, however. The Columbia Colonels got the 15-14 victory over the Charlotte Thunder.

"I never realized that a few hits could cause so much commotion," the second baseman said in the clubhouse after the game, crowded by reporters. "Headlines and highlights are great, but it takes a lot of luster off it that we lost."

After his first couple of hits, all eyes in the ballpark were on him each time Sacco Jr. stepped into the batter's box. Even some opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little slice of league history unfold.

When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and said "relax, concentrate, and hit the ball where they ain't."

That's exactly what he did, as Sacco Jr. finished the game with 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a line in the record book. Tommy Sacco Jr. singled in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Logan Gragg in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 10th.

Sacco Jr. is currently batting .289 with 10 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Baker Goes 5-for-5 Against Annapolis
Saturday, July 5th , 2025
It was a good day for the Chanticleers at Chanticleers Ballpark as they clipped the Annapolis Argonauts, 20-19. It was tremendous day for Dru Baker, who was on a hitting barrage at the plate, finishing 5-for-5.

"I don't know what to call that," the Charleston second baseman told reporters after his big performance. "I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' I just try to keep it simple. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then I hit it. Today I picked up the spin pretty well."

Dru Baker singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Baker has collected 28 hits for the Chanticleers this year, 0 of them home runs. He has also netted 8 RBIs and scored 22 runs while batting .289.
