On a Roll: Lopez Hits for Cycle
Dariel Lopez did everything he could for the Charlotte Thunder -- literally.

The 22-year-old second baseman hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Thunder, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Charleston Chanticleers, 6-5, at Charlotte Grounds.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Lopez reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Lopez banged out 4 hits in 4 at-bats and totaled 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Dariel Lopez hit a two-run home run off Konner Wade in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.

This season, Lopez has delivered 11 hits in 33 at-bats for a .333 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .405 clip and his totals also include 3 RBIs and 9 runs scored. This year Lopez has played in 8 games.
