It took a while, but the Lake Placid Gators finally disposed of the Charlotte Thunder 20-2 in the series clincher at Gators Ballpark.

Winning the finale gave the Gators the series, 3-2. They will now advance to the Round 2.

The Most Valuable Player Award went to Lake Placid second baseman Jimmy Govern. He batted .421 in the series, collecting 7 RBIs and scoring 6 runs.

The Lake Placid Gators don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Sarasota Bobcats - Pensacola Privateers series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
