Asheville-Allentown Fight Results in Suspensions
Saturday, July 5th , 2025
Yesterday at Ballpark of Allentown Jim Unknown and Yanzel Correa got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Asheville Aviators and Allentown Airforce. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Unknown will have to sit out 4 while Correa would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.

Admirals Luis Smacks 5 Hits
Thursday, July 3rd , 2025
After a 5-hit effort to lead New River's 17-11 victory over the Chattanooga Wildcats, second baseman Jansel Luis told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Appalachian League-level is really something special."
The 20-year-old player earned his accolades at Ballpark of New River with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Wildcats.
"His swing is getting there," said Admirals skipper , who spoke glowingly of Luis after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Jansel did that to perfection."
Jansel Luis singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 7th.
Currently Luis has 1 home run and a .542 batting average.

Leary Strokes 3 HR Against Marion
Thursday, July 3rd , 2025
Allentown Airforce center fielder Cameron Leary put on a dazzling display of power at Ballpark of Marion against the Marion Dukes. In the 16-8 Airforce victory, Leary penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Marion manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 23-year-old had 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 9 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Leary said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Cameron Leary hit a three-run home run off Will Watson in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Irv Carter in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off RJ Gordon in the 8th.
So far this year, Leary has hit .455 with 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
