Bombers Cruise to Round 2 with Sweep
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Southern League Round 1. It turned out quite a bit different.

The Birmingham Bombers swept aside the Havana Conquistadors to advance to the Round 2, winning the final game by a 12-7 score at Bombers Stadium.

The series MVP was right fielder Jace Bohrofen, who hit .417 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 4 runs.

"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."

The Birmingham Bombers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Shreveport Captains - Myrtle Beach Suns series. Myrtle Beach leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
