Alexandria Wins Round 1
The Alexandria Dukes bandwagon is filling up fast, as the team has moved one step closer to winning a Round 2 championship.

Alexandria downed the Newport News Destroyers 15-6 tonight at Dukes Ballpark, to take the Round 1 3-1.

"It seems much more real now and we're really starting to realize we've got a great shot at this thing," said Shawn Goosenberg, who was named series MVP. "When we play our best we're as good as anybody in the Carolina League."

For the series, Goosenberg had 6 hits for .429, with a .600 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 7 runs.

The Alexandria Dukes don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Easton Grays - Danville Raiders series. Danville leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
