San Bernadino Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game
California League fans were certainly not disappointed with this California League Round 1.

The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the San Bernadino 66ers prevailing over the Malibu Stars to advance to the Round 2.

San Bernadino won the final game by a score of 13-1 at Ballpark of San Bernadino and that sealed the series 3-2.

"Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said center fielder Jud Fabian, who earned MVP honors.

For the series, Fabian hit .450 with a .577 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The San Bernadino 66ers will play against the Merced Marines in the next round. Merced won their series against the San Mateo Bloom 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
