This is the time of the baseball season when grown men are reduced to tears. This year, the Fort Wayne Bucks were shedding tears of joy and the Springfield Sluggers those of sorrow.

The Bucks topped the Sluggers today 9-6 at Bucks Stadium and locked up their 2nd Midwest League Round 2 championship, winning the series 4-0.

"To come this far and leave empty-handed is not easy," said Springfield manager .

The Bucks finished the regular season in the Midwest League Western Division with a 83-57 record, ending up in first place in the division standings.
