Big Day for Sirota: Swats 5 Hits
|
Great Falls Gunslingers right fielder Mike Sirota had a day to remember at Ballpark of Helena, ripping apart the Helena Devils and sparking the 30-6 Gunslingers win.
Sirota wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-8.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Sirota told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Mike Sirota singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Tommy Molsky in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Nick Conte in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in a run in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.
At present, Sirota is batting .386 and has collected 5 home runs, 18 RBIs, .488 OBP and scored 26 runs.
