Bears Top Firebirds in Extras, 3-2
|
The Denver Bears did just enough to sneak past the Phoenix Firebirds, 3-2, at Coors Field. Denver left fielder Mark Canha, in particular, had a standout performance. Denver pitcher Andrew Chafin earned the win, hiking his record to 3-3. Michael Lorenzen suffered the loss. With the win, the Bears have a record of 89-71.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Denver right fielder James Outman, facing Chris Paddack, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Bears the 3-2 win.
"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Canha told the Denver Bulletin.
