Vancouver Canadians second baseman Matthew Lugo put on a dazzling display of power at Ballpark of Mississauga against the Mississauga Trappers. In the 22-8 Canadians victory, Lugo penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Mississauga manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."

Along with his three home runs, the 24-year-old had 5 hits in 6 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Lugo said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."

Matthew Lugo singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Cameron Weston in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Lane Ramsey in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Janson Junk in the 8th.

For the year, Lugo is batting .316 with 7 home runs, 19 RBIs and 28 runs scored.
