Reading's Ward Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Thursday, May 1st , 2025
It seemed Reading Roughnecks center fielder Braiden Ward could do no wrong, but it still didn't come out right.
The Roughnecks fell against the Canton Cutters by the score of 19-13. Ward did all he could, rapping out 5 hits in 7 at-bats, but in the end, Canton prevailed at Roughnecks Ballpark.
"I felt real good, but my best just wasn't enough," Ward said in the postgame interview. "We didn't play well enough to win. I saw the ball well and put the ball in play well, and they fell in for base hits. Some days they do that."
Braiden Ward tripled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, flied out in the 9th and singled in the 10th.
This year, Ward is batting .329 with no home runs and 7 RBIs.
