Thrice Is Nice: Matijevic Unloads 3 Homers Tuesday, June 16th , 2026 Hempstead left fielder JJ Matijevic blasted three homers at Flying Dutchmen Stadium in the 21-20 Flying Dutchmen victory over the Champagne Black Bears. For the game, JJ Matijevic scored 5 times and knocked in 6 runs. When he hit his last home run, his teammates, hearing the crack of the bat, leaped off the bench and rushed on the field to greet the jubilant Matijevic when he reached home plate. "It was just one game, but it sure was a lot of fun -- 5-for-6, three roundtrippers and a win," a gleeful Matijevic told BNN reporters in a postgame interview. "What a day." JJ Matijevic hit a two-run home run off Kendall Williams in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Nick Hull in the 5th, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Michael Kelly in the 6th and walked in the 8th. So far this season, Matijevic is batting .374 with 17 home runs. |
