Acuna Hits 3 Homers Against Birmingham Friday, April 18th , 2025 Havana Conquistadors shortstop Luisangel Acuna sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Birmingham Bombers, Acuna told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Acuna pushed the Conquistadors past the Bombers, 16-3. To go along with the homers, he collected 8 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Acuna told reporters after the game. Luisangel Acuna flied out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Nolan McLean in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Hogan Harris in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Hogan Harris in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th. For the season, Acuna is batting .361 with 13 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 7 times and batted in 9. |
