Valera Goes Cycling
Tuesday, August 26th , 2025
In an outing that will go down in the annals of league history, San Bernadino shortstop Leonel Valera hit for the cycle, as the 66ers marched to victory over the Malibu Stars, 17-0.
Valera collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats, including 2 singles, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored to help San Bernadino take the Stars Ballpark contest.
"It was the last thing on my mind, really," Valera said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway."
Leonel Valera doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Kash Mayfield in the 3rd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
Valera is batting .341 this season in 115 games with 26 home runs, 95 RBIs and 114 runs scored. He has 175 hits in 513 at-bats.
