Plant City Defeats Daytona Friday, September 26th , 2025 A celebratory mood filled the air as the Plant City Farmers closed out the season with a 11-9 victory over the Daytona Firebirds at Ballpark of Daytona to capture the Round 2, 4-3. Giving the Firebirds credit for a hard-fought series, Farmers players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned Florida State League champions. "We felt like this was our year all season long," said shortstop Frederick Bencosme, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did." It was the 6th in franchise history. During the Florida State League South regular season Plant City put up a 71-70 record and finished first. "They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Daytona manager .
