St. Lucie-Lakeland Fight Results in Suspensions Friday, May 8th , 2026 Yesterday at Ballpark of St. Lucie Jakob Christian and Blair Calvo got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the St. Lucie Sand Gnats and Lakeland Catfish. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Christian will have to sit out 5 while Calvo would be given a 3-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. So far this season, Christian is hitting .289 with 3 home runs, 17 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has 28 hits in 97 at-bats and a .413 OBP. Calvo has taken the mound for 9 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 1-0 record with a 9.92 ERA. The Lakeland reliever has limited opposing batters to a .365 batting average. |
