Daytona Reliever Hurt
Friday, June 26th , 2026
When Luis Martinez-Gomez was hurt against the Plant City Farmers, the Daytona Firebirds were hopeful that the injury was not serious. However, it proved to be more severe than first thought. The 23-year-old reliever suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament throwing a pitch in yesterday's game. Team doctors told BNN today that Martinez-Gomez would miss 10 months of the season.
Martinez-Gomez has taken the mound for 5 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 1-0 record with a 1.42 ERA. The Daytona reliever has limited opposing batters to a .190 batting average.
