5-Hit Barrage by Fountain Thursday, July 9th , 2026 Kale Fountain was at the head of a Lakeland Catfish hit parade at Ballpark of St. Lucie. The 20-year-old went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the St. Lucie Sand Gnats that marched off with the 13-12 win. "We didn't have it today," griped Catfish skipper following the game. "Kale did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching." Fountain did more than fine, dominating the Sand Gnats at the plate during his record-making 5-for-6 performance. "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging third baseman told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." Kale Fountain hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
