Hitting Streak Still Alive for O'Neill Thursday, July 9th , 2026 Firebirds catcher Matt O'Neill has extended his hitting streak to 25 games. He went 1-for-4 in today's game against the Vero Beach Blue Angels. Daytona won the ballgame, 5-4. "Got a hit and a win," he said later. "OK, I'll take it." Matt O'Neill hit a sac fly in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and flied out in the 9th. In 39 games this season, O'Neill has compiled a .354 batting average with 51 hits and 7 home runs. He has also scored 28 times and knocked in 34 runs. |
