Diaz Raps La Crosse for 5 Hits

Springfield Sluggers right fielder Yusniel Diaz went 5-for-6 and paced the 13-10 Springfield victory over the La Crosse Ironmen at Sluggers Ballpark.
"Well, that was fun," Diaz said, following the game.
Yusniel Diaz grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Daniel Harper in the 8th.
Diaz is hitting at a .355 mark this season. His stats show 4 home runs, 26 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He has played 21 games for the Sluggers.

San Antonio RP Garcia Will Miss 4-5 Months

Davian Garcia of the San Antonio Vipers was injured in today's game against Quad City and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is shoulder inflammation, and he is expected to be out for up to 4-5 months. It happened while Garcia was throwing a pitch. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field."
Checking out his season stats to date, Garcia has 1 save in 11 relief appearances. He's posted a record of 2 and 1 with an ERA of 4.97.

Super Swinger -- McElveny Slams 5 Hits

Springfield second baseman Daniel McElveny had a big day at Sluggers Ballpark against the La Crosse Ironmen. The 23-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 8-7 Sluggers triumph over La Crosse.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," McElveny said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Daniel McElveny singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and grounded out in the 11th.
A look at his current stats shows McElveny with a .289 average, no home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has played in 12 games.
