Vipers Out of Time, Out of Playoffs

The San Antonio Vipers organization will have to turn its attention to next season -- the team was mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in 2025 today.
This is the club's 2nd playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2023. In total, the Vipers have missed the playoffs 9 times in their 13-year history.

San Antonio-Modesto Fight Results in Suspensions

After an intense confrontation, both the Vipers Carson DeMartini and the Miracle Luis Moncada were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent San Antonio-Modesto game. Carson DeMartini will miss 4 games, while Luis Moncada was suspended for 9 games.
"Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Carson DeMartini commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play."
DeMartini is batting .258 with 18 home runs and 76 RBIs this season.
Moncada has taken the mound for 33 relief appearances this season, nailing down 4 saves while notching a 3-3 record with a 5.38 ERA. The Modesto reliever has limited opposing batters to a .307 batting average.

Pitelli Hits in 20 Straight Games

Dominic Pitelli's bat has been smoking lately, and it continued today as he went 3-for-4 in his team's 11-10 triumph over the South Bend Fighting Irish at Vipers Ballpark. The 23-year-old shortstop has now hit safely in 20 consecutive games for the Vipers. Dominic Pitelli singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, walked in a run in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.
This season, Pitelli has posted a batting average of .333 with 104 hits in 312 at-bats, 5 home runs and 49 RBIs. He has also scored 59 runs, walked 40 times and compiled a .408 OBP.
