Super Swinger -- McElveny Slams 5 Hits Wednesday, May 6th , 2026 Springfield second baseman Daniel McElveny had a big day at Sluggers Ballpark against the La Crosse Ironmen. The 23-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 8-7 Sluggers triumph over La Crosse. "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," McElveny said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Daniel McElveny singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and grounded out in the 11th.
